Since the end of June and throughout the month of July, with the technique of layering to stump you can get new fig plants from coppice shoots born near the trunk.
First select the most developed branches and away from the shaft, after which operate a very tight ligature to their base and tuck with soil up to about 15 cm above the ligature. In correspondence with the ligation it will create a bottleneck, which will cause the swelling of the trunk immediately above it, where it will produce new roots. The only care will be to water often throughout the summer, until the time comes to unseat and transplanting new fig trees in late winter.
