The maintenance of the machines is essential to keep them always ready to use and prolong their life. There are some operations that we can carry out ourselves on the lawnmower, according to the instructions given on the user's manual and respecting the safety regulations.
Before carrying out any operation it's advisable to disconnect the spark plug cable and keep it disconnected for the duration of the operation.
The basics of lawnmower maintenance are:
- cleaning the air filter or any replacement;
- control of the spark plug, which must be unscrewed with the appropriate key supplied with the machine and replaced if necessary;
- checking the blade wear and sharpening if necessary;
- checking the oil level that must be replaced once a year or every 25 hours of work, after turning the machine on for a while, so that the oil is hot and fluid.
At the end of the season it is advisable to empty the tank so that the fuel does not become stale and to prevent it from corroding or encrusting vital parts of the machine. In the case of the mixture, this operation is essential, since the fuel tends to separate from the oil.
