In Franciacorta began the grape harvest in Italy, with the collection of Chardonnay grapes for the production of sparkling wines. Due to high temperatures and drought this year the harvest was anticipated at least 10 days and, although it's estimated a decline in production compared to last year due to hail, ice and then drought, the grapes will be sweeter and sugary.
From the point of view of the quantity Italian production, although less than last year, will surpass the French and the Spanish, battered by late frosts.
