The name comes from Julius Caesar, who was born on the 12th of this month. Earlier, in the Roman calendar of Romulus, it was the fifth month and had the name of Quintile (Quintilis), number five in latin. It was later changed to iulius by order of Marco Antonio.
After the summer solstice on June 21st, the days begin to get shorter gradually, albeit slightly, in the space of July day length becomes shorter by about 45 minutes.
Towards the end of this month, the night of 28 in particular, it will be possible to observe the meteor shower of the Delta Aquarids, just before start the show of the Perseids, the so-called "tears of St. Lawrence" that will reach their peak between 10 and 15 August.
