olio

A European law adopted on June 30 provides for a new wording on the packaging of extra-virgin olive oil that simply list "best before ..." and then deletes the date of bottling and expiry of 18 months in force until now. The new standard also provides that will no longer be distinguishable the Italian oil from European, which previously had the indication of origin printed in different colors. This is yet another serious blow to the Italian producers, who were penalized once again by European laws, little interested in the preservation of the made in Italy products. On the other hand, however, they have been reinforced anti-fraud controls that previously have unmasked the chlorophyll and beta-carotene "corrections", and those who produce high-quality oil can, and will, in some cases, indicate origin and date of production.
