Also Italy is one of the fifteen European countries in which eggs contaminated by Fipronil were marketed, from the Belgian and Dutch farms.
This toxic insecticide was used for the pest control and came into contact with the feed of the laying hens, finishing inside the eggs. This product is absolutely forbidden in plants where animals are bred for the food chain of the whole European Union. This substance is not destroyed by the cooking of food, which is why they were also subjected to seizures produced from the lots of indicted eggs, such as bread, pasta and confectionery products.
Although it's easy to distinguish the Italian eggs from the foreign ones through the labelling of the shell, breeding ourselves the animals can guarantee absolute certainty of origin and quality of what we bring to the table.
