olio

After the decision in the 2016 by the European Parliament to increase 35,000 tons of imported oil from Tunisia at zero duty, draw conclusions.
This initiative was the result of disastrous years for the oil sector in Europe and the exponential increase in demand.
It aroused controversy, especially in Italy, the producer of quality extra virgin olive oil par excellence, where the controls on this oil were particularly accurate.
The results of this campaign have been extremely disappointing for Tunisia, which has in fact exploited very little to zero duty because of bureaucratic impediments and high levels of quality and high food safety, especially in Italy. Rather than increase, Tunisia exports have dropped to 8%, but is not excluded a re-negotiation with Brussels to extend or renew the zero-duty measure.
