August is, usually, the hottest month of the year and this year will not make exceptions, thanks to the anticyclone called Lucifer, which will bring on our peninsula air from Saharan Africa at least until 15. For these reasons this month is usually tied to the holidays, enjoyed mainly outdoors, to sea or mountains and activities carried out mainly in the evening, when the heat gives a truce.

On August 10, the night of St. Lawrence, is a historical date as it coincided always with the maximum of the meteoric swarm of the Perseids. By the time the precession of the equinoxes has transferred the maximum peak to the night of August 12, however it still refers to the Perseids as the "Tears of St. Lawrence".
Midsummer's Eve, traditionally celebrated on August 15, originates from an ancient festivity that in the Imperial Rome was called Feriae August, the rest of Augustus.
