FarmBot it's the humanity's first open-source CNC farming machine. Born in California, area particularly devoted to agricolture, which more than once has had to deal with problems related to drought, pests and phyto-pathology. Derives mainly from the need to find a viable alternative to traditional methods of cultivation, unsustainable, as harmful to health, the environment, soil and food production system.
FarmBot is a precision farming system with an open-source software and an hardware made from simple materials, easily available and accessories reproducible with a non-professional 3D printer.
Its structure looks just like a 3D printer or to a CNC milling machine.
It consists of two main tracks on the sides of the crop, on which runs a bridge structure that allows movement of the real tools: thanks to the interchangeable heads, sensors and video cameras you can monitor, watering, sowing, crush the weeds and so on.
Through the software the user can organize their plot in structure and variety, optimizing space and diversifying the crop to its liking.
