margotta

As an alternative to cutting, an effective propagating technique adaptable to different types of plants is the so-called graft layering, which consists in stimulating the rooting of a branch still attached to the mother plant.
Air layering is the most used and is carried out starting from an incision on the bark of the branch you want to root or removing a portion of bark ring, with an incision or a vertical tab, lifting the bark. Following sprinkle the affected area of radical hormone and stands of moist peat; closes the whole with the plastic preferably dark forming a sleeve tied below and above, and taking care to keep the soil is always damp. When the branch has rooted, cutting it below and it buries.
This type is effective for shrubs and ornamental plants with branches inflexible as maple, ficus, the dracaena, the aralia, pomegranate, azalea, cedar, gardenia, the pittosporum, the kerria, or fruit trees such as mulberry, olive, citrus, figs, etc. The ideal time to do so is from April to May.
