Jack Black, "Acchiapparatti di Sua Maestà", con il suo terrier - ill. da London Labour and the London Poor, a. 1851

The practices of rodent control in Europe date back to discovery of the great contagion risk represented by mice and rats in conjunction with the great epidemics of Black Plague (1300 and 1600).
It is a systematic fight to infestations of rats, animals which can reproduce up to five times a year, giving birth to 5 – 12 mices, that within a few months reach sexual maturity.
The pest must keep in consideration the type of animal and its features. Country mices, wild, domestic, common rat or brown rat infested different environments and have different behaviors and habits. In any case there are several solutions to prevent the proliferation of these animals: first monitoring the environments and remove eventual nests, the maintenance of structures to prevent the entry by also very small holes, ultrasound deratizations devices and using specific low toxicity traps and baits.
