With excess of extra-virgin olive oil of the last year you could try to produce soap with a completely natural and simple method, with the necessary precautions.
Ingredients:
- 1 kg extra-virgin olive oil
- 128 gr sodium hydroxide
- 300 gr distilled water
With the help of a thermometer, you must heat the oil in a stainless steel pot to 60 ° C. Then slowly pour the sodium hydroxide into distilled water, mix well and check the temperature, waiting for cold up to 50°, then add the mixture to hot oil.
After mixing, it is necessary to act on the mixture with a hand blender and blend until the mixture reaches the so-called tape, when change color and texture.
Now you can pour the mixture into a mold that can be a baking mold, a wooden box, and so on. After 24 hours in the mold well covered, you can unmold the soap and cut it at will. It will leave to mature in a cool, dry place for 4-5 weeks before using.
Warning: sodium hydroxide is an extremely dangerous material, it should be treated with all the necessary precautions: handle it with care in a well-ventilated using protection such as goggles, mask, anti-corrosion gloves.
