This year, the month of February have 29 days rather than 28. This phenomenon occurs every 4 years and derives from the fact that we use conventionally the solar calendar. 2016 is therefore a leap year, so it will be 366 days to prevent slippage of the seasons, which every four years would accumulate a late day.

In according to rule of the Gregorian calendar: “A year is leap if its number is divisible by 4, except the secular years (those divisible by 100) that are not divisible by 400”.

On February 9th will be the Carnival, from the Latin carnem levare “eliminate meat”, as it indicated the final feast before Lent, dedicated to great mask celebrations. It is a holiday that does not have annual recurrence fixed, but variable depending of Easter.
