The oophagy in laying hens can begin by chance, if accidentally breaks an egg and the hen, curious by nature, approaches and tastes it.

The remedies can be multiple:

- use the special glasses for poultry, which allow the hens to see only downwards;
- fill some eggs with mustard, so that when they are caught they will be extremely unpleasant for the hens that leave this habit.
