The official petition promoted by the Italian coalition #StopGlifosato has reached one million of signatures. The collection of signatures aims to raise awareness of the European Commission to ban the use of this herbicide.
Since this form of active participation has been introduced in Europe, it's the first time a petition reaches all member states by reaching the quorum in less than five months.
The European Commission is therefore legally obliged to respond to this request that it has all the features of a mass movement and, at the end of June, it will have to decide if renew the authorization to use this herbicide, the most popular in the world, considered seriously carcinogenic.
