This year the presence of ungulates has reached very widespread levels of diffusion, reaching towns and beaches, as well as cultivated fields.
The strong drought combined with the vast fires that affected the wooded areas has drastically diminished the availability of food for these animals, forced to move towards countryside and urban areas, rich in food and not populated by their main predator: the wolf.
From December 2015 the law 221 is in force and article 7 prohibits the feeding of wild boars and provides, as punishment, the arrest from two to six months, or a fine from 516 to 2,065 euro for offenders. Ungulates are, in fact, very clever animals that in situations of constant availability of food, such as that characterized by crops or urban waste, they take the habit of returning to the place, if not dissuaded.
