The Città dell'Olio Association has launched the "Walk Among Olive trees" initiative during the seasonal harvest.
There will be 110 cities and 18 Italian regions from north to south, offering itineraries from 2 to 5 kilometres through landscapes linked to the history and culture of green gold.
The initiative is aimed at promoting the Italian gastronomic heritage linked to the typical territorialities and the development of sustainable and responsible tourism.
The high patronage of the European Parliament underlines the importance of this project, which sees its first edition in the 2017, which the ONU declared as the International Year of sustainable tourism. In Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Emilia Romagna, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Liguria, Lombardy, Marche, Molise, Sardinia, Sicily, Puglia, Tuscany, Trentino, Umbria and Veneto will discover the local cultivars, the olive culture and the history to which it's inextricably linked in every territory.
